Three Secrets for a Healthy Heart & a Happy Life
The importance of the heart to being healthy cannot be over emphasized. Blood is the elixir of life and the heart is the master of the blood. From our very first breadth to our last, it is the heart that is responsible for circulating oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood or the cardio output in the body. In the hierarchy of organ health, the heart tops the list.
The well-being of the heart is decided by two factors, the levels of bad calcium and bad cholesterol absorbed by the body. Following are the three secrets to keeping the heart and body healthy.
Exercise: The heart purifies and pumps blood throughout the body all 24 hours; it’s just fair that we spend 24 minutes a day exercising for it.
The body needs moderate, consistent and continuous exercise rather than a rigorous routine for a short period of time. One should understand that exercise is not an action done in isolation; it is a way of life. You’re at a higher risk of damaging the body by exercising along with not making lifestyle choices to suit your health goals than by not exercising at all.
Nutritious Diet: The body absorbs what you feed it. Bad diet and junk food increase the bad cholesterol in the body. For one who exercises, the level of absorption of bad cholesterol is even higher causing further damage to the body than what would have occurred by eating an improper diet without exercising
Abstaining from bad habits: It is well known that bad habits like smoking are injurious to health. However a person who exercises without giving up on bad habits ups the risk to the heart and body. E.g. Pranayama has immense benefits for the respiratory system and increases the absorption of oxygen by the body. But if a smoker regularly practices Pranayama the lungs are not only going to better absorb oxygen but also the Nicotine they are subjected them to. So while one might feel they are helping their body through Pranayama in reality damage is more because of not giving up smoking.
It’s wonderful to set goals for health but good health is only achieved in a holistic way… by doing the right kind of exercise to suit your body and gender with the right habits, right diet and discipline. Exercise with bad habit will have irreversible damage to the heart rather than people who don’t exercise at all.
Either say No to smoking and no to junk food or say no to Exercise.
