Practice like you’ve never Won and Perform like you’ve never Lost !!
Practice, the only Seed for Success
There have been innumerable times I have been asked ‘Guruji how can I be successful’?
How do you define success? Isn’t it the ability to get what you want, when you want? Unfortunately, success is always viewed in comparison with someone else. And hence isn’t just related to personal achievement and satisfaction. But remember, your peace and happiness are greatly connected with your inner self and self-satisfaction.
If you want to experience success without competition you need to be at peace. And you need to have the self-confidence that you are always capable to perform the best.
This readiness comes from consistent practice; not to win or defeat another but for your own joy. Practice like you’ve never won and never practice to win. But practice to perform better than you ever have.
To be a natural performer requires the discipline of regular practice. Winning shouldn’t reduce practice, on the contrary, practice should only increase with winning. Because in life nothing can be attained, it can only be maintained.
Let me explain this emphasis on practice. Practice or Sadhana helps one attain an undisturbed state of mind. It acts as a protecting shield against self-doubt, external circumstances and influences beyond one’s control. Secondly, practice may not always make you feel the power of God, but it will unquestionably make you realize the power of the self. You will know you need not rely on anyone else but yourself.
It’s a common saying, ‘Practice makes you perfect’. No. Practice makes you progress. This wisdom is also conveyed in the Yogasutras, Vedas and other scriptures of transcendental knowledge.
Above all, practice gives one the unfailing achiever’s attitude. Maruthi or Anchaneyar is a brilliant example of this attitude. He embodied the virtues of the achiever’s spirit that ‘No matter what, I will do the task’, ‘If not me, no one else can do it’ and ‘Even when no one else can do it, I can’.
From now on practice like you’ve never won and perform like you’ve never lost and will never lose. This attitude will make you the best performer achieving the best results even in the worst conditions. In fact, the best result will seek you. All that is asked of you is to simply practice without compromise. And consciously practice connecting with the divine. You will then realize that anything is possible because you don’t perform alone, but the divine performs through you.
Wishing you a life of peace, success and happiness.
