Kidney – The Wonder Organ
As humans, we have two choices; either feel great about being healthy or feel guilty forever on losing good health.
Good health is decided primarily by two factors; the nutrients you intake and healing & immunity of the body. It’s a wonderful organ whose optimal functioning is paramount to good health.
We have control over the nutrition we intake but are completely reliant on the kidney for the elimination of toxins. The primary functions of the kidney are Production of Essential Hormones, Regulation of body fluids, Maintaining acid – alkaline balance in the body and above all Blood purification & Detoxification of the body.
This body is the one only permanent address from one’s first breath until the last on planet earth. The health of this abode is mainly dependent on the food we consume. Because food alone has the power to make one to stop or start medicines. To keep the kidney in healthy condition following are the foods that one needs to stop or start consuming. What one needs to stop consuming are; High levels of Salt; Carbonated and Caffeine beverages, Smoking and finally and most importantly Pain Killers top the list.
Foods that are essential to enhance the kidney function are Plantain (Vazhaithandu) stem & Bottle Gourd (Sorakai) in any form, and Jeera water. These foods reverse existing damage to the kidney and help them function to their maximum capacity. Jeera water especially aids in enhancing the purification process and should be consumed on a daily basis. It is no surprise then that Siddhas call Jeera as ‘Chiragam’ in Tamil – that which purifies the inner body.
Along with the essential foods, a simple and powerful activity to maintain the Water energy (Vayanan energy) in the body and to increase the functioning of the kidney is to take a shower twice a day. Taking a shower after a hard workout, sports activity, excessive perspiration or after sexual intercourse too is essential and does wonders for kidney health.
